High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Christian Schmidt started a new round of consultations with political parties on the electoral law and the Constitution of the Federation of BiH (FBiH).
As it is known, new consultations between Schmidt and his legal team and representatives of certain political parties began yesterday in the Office of the High Representative (OHR) of BiH, and the topic is the election law, the FBiH Constitution, and the implementation of the election results.
It was discovered that in the OHR of BiH, new consultations between Schmidt and his legal team and representatives of certain political parties began yesterday, and the topic is the election law, the Constitution of the FBiH, and the implementation of the election results.
The consultations should last for the next few days, all in the wake of Schmidt’s earlier call to political representatives in the FBiH in order to find a solution for the reform of the Constitution of the FBiH, that is, the key topic of filling the federal House of Peoples.
These talks were announced by Schmidt at the end of July when he imposed technical changes to the electoral law on the integrity of the electoral process. At that time, the high representative had a plan to impose a political segment related to the FBiH Constitution, but after numerous reactions and indignation due to the proposal that was on the table, he gave up.
It was also unofficially detected that Schmidt has not yet received the support of the European Union (EU) countries, especially Germany, for imposing a decision at this moment. He allegedly received a signal from certain circles of the international community that he should not engage in any kind of imposition during the election campaign.
The pre-election campaign starts on September 2nd, and the elections will be held on October 2nd.
If it remains that way, then the issue of reforming the FBiH Constitution will remain for the period after the elections, Klix.ba writes.
