During the past weekend, this recently launched big volunteering campaign was continued at several locations at the territory of Kakanj.

People worked hard in local communities of Čatići, Vehabi, Hrasno and Usjel. An illegal dump was cleaned in the village of Hrasno and, as well as the field where children play football.

“Fifteen hard working volunteers responded to the campaign, 7 tractors from the village were engages, as well as a skip machine sent by the enterprise ‘Vodokom’ in agreement with representatives from the Municipality. Waste such as bags, bottles, glass, plastic and the like was sorted and packed in waste bags, one part of heavy materials was taken by tractors and adequately disposed, the machine flattened the terrain and a barbed wire fence was placed with the aim of preventing further illegal disposal of waste at this location. In the local community Vehabi the area around the stadium, the martyrs’ fountain and around the riverbed of Trstionica was cleaned. Ten young volunteers and 30 women from the association led by Mualima Jasmina Mušija responded to the campaign. Also planned is the painting of goals at the field and painting of the martyrs’ fountain, but these activities have been postponed due to bad weather conditions. One truckload of waste was collected in Vehabi. Another ten volunteers responded in Usjel and they also worked very hard.

Participants in the campaign were also members of the Association ‘Bistro’ Kakanj and radio amateurs who cleaned the banks of Bosna River. They collected 20 bags of waste, mowed the grass and did some landscaping.

Upon the completion of all activities, a press conference will be held and the best individual volunteer and the best group of volunteers will be declared,” stated the Press Service of the Kakanj Municipality.
