Iffland and Popovici win Tenth Red Bull Cliff Diving in Mostar

In Mostar, today’s last round of spectacular jumps from the Old Bridge concluded the 10th anniversary edition of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in the city on the Neretva. It was the penultimate stop of the current season, and victories were celebrated by Australian Rhiannan Iffland, who secured her 10th title, and Romanian Constantin Popovici.

This year’s Old Bridge Jumping Competition was the 114th stop of the World Series in its history since it was launched in May 2009, as well as the 66th competition for women since 2014, when the category was introduced.

The city on the Neretva hosted the best jumpers in the world for the tenth anniversary, and for the sixth time as the penultimate stop of the season. In the first round on Thursday, the contestants jumped directly from the stone arch of the historic bridge, a jewel under the protection of UNESCO, in honor of the local tradition, and the remaining three rounds were performed from the platform. The height of the platform for men was 27 meters, and for women 21 meters.

The final “fights” for victories were watched by a large audience, and among the guests were Red Bull athletes, the basketball representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of Dubai Džanan Musa, and BiH skier Elvedina Muzaferija. Gaga and Stihi, a popular duo from the Helem Nejse group, played the role of program presenters, and were accompanied by the well-known journalist and TV commentator Zoran Filičić. DJ Soul was responsible for the musical atmosphere.

The final round was opened by the BiH music group Divanhana with the performance of the number “Bajami”, and the audience was “warmed up” for the spectacle by Red Bull sportsman Issa Kalfon, who demonstrated his skills with a jetpack.
Before today’s final round of jumps, Rhiannan Iffland and Carlos Gimeno were in the lead, but nothing was over yet, so everyone present enjoyed the final “showdown” of the cliff diving elite, which was truly spectacular.

The battle for victory in the women’s division was ultimately between Rhiannan Iffland and Molly Carlson, who received equal marks for their jumps in the final round, four nines and one 8.5. However, thanks to a total score of 363.20 points, the victory in Mostar went to the phenomenal Australian woman, who secured her tenth Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion title, i.e. the tenth King Kahekili trophy, at the penultimate stop of the season.

Second place went to Carlson with 361.60 points, who performed the best jump of the competition in the third round and received an additional point for the overall standings, and Xantheia Pennisi was third with a total of 345.80 points.

“I have no words. I am very proud of what I have done in the last ten years, it was fun and challenging, I really learned a lot. I heard that Molly got a nine for the last jump, I knew that she would not give up without a fight and that I had to give it my all. I can’t believe it, ten titles in a row, that is incredible. My message is to do everything with a smile, don’t look too far into the future, focus on the present and enjoy what you are doing. You never know what is hiding around the corner. One of the most important things I have learned is to take advantage of the opportunity that comes your way and just try. If you succeed, that’s good, if not, keep going and be persistent,” said an overjoyed Iffland, who recorded his 48th victory in the World Series and his fifth in Mostar.

In the men’s category, the great Romanian Constantin Popovici triumphed with a total of 414.90 points, for whom this is his fourth victory in Mostar. Let us remind you that he celebrated in the city on the Neretva last year as well. Aidan Heslop and James Lichtenstein joined him on the podium. The British finished the competition with 414.80, and the American with 411.10 points. The best jump in the men’s competition was performed by the fourth-placed Gary Hunt in the second round, so he received a bonus point for the overall standings.

“It’s great to win here today. It was tough, everyone jumped well in the last round. I’m very happy to win new points in the World Series championship. There’s one more stop left in this season and I hope things can change in the standings. My name Popovici (Popović) is very common here, more often than in my country. People always welcome me in Mostar. Maybe that’s the secret to my success here. As for the stop in Italy, Aidan has the advantage, but I’m more relaxed. I’m going there to have fun, but I’ll also be focused,” said Popovici, who won his 11th World Series victory.

The last round of the current season will be held in Polignano a Mare, Italy, from September 25 to 27, when the men’s champion for 2026 will be decided.
After three days of exciting competition in jumping from the Stari most, the week marked by the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will be concluded with fun and late-night entertainment. The program was announced at four locations, namely Bijeli Bar, Marshall, Lazy Bar Stage (plateau under the Old Bridge) and Alibaba.

Divanhana will perform on the stage of the Bijelo Bar tonight and thus complete the sevdah atmosphere in the city on the Neretva.
