Igman Konjic Suspends Production as Serbia’s Arms Export Ban Cuts Off Gunpowder Supply

The company Igman d.d. Konjic has sent workers on forced annual leave due to a shortage of gunpowder needed for production, which they procure from Serbia.

The Government of Serbia, in June of this year, made a decision on banning the export of weapons and military equipment, as a result of which there was also a halt in the delivery of gunpowder, which is needed by the defense industry company from Konjic.

Because of that, the workers of Igman were directed to use the remaining annual leave for 2025, collectively, in the period from September 2nd until the conditions for work are created, that is, until the delivery of gunpowder.

Exempted from using leave are the workers of the climate chambers and guards, the workers of the internal protection service, occupational safety, fire protection, and security, it is stated in the company management’s notice.

Otherwise, Serbia suspended exports in the midst of the Israeli-Iranian conflict and frequent criticism from Moscow over arms exports to Ukraine, Klix.ba writes.
