Improved Cooperation Between BiH and Russia

The Director of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection (SIPA) Goran Zubac and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Aleksandar Bocan Harčenko spoke today at SIPA headquarters on establishing cooperation between BiH and Russia regarding joint operations in the fight against serious crimes.

The Ambassador said that Russia supports the activities of SIPA and plans of the agency that Zubac spoke about today.

He said that BiH and Russia have similar goals and tasks, because Russia faces the same challenges as SIPA, which are organized crime and terrorism. This requires emergency action without delay.

The Ambassador said that there is a possibility for cooperation between BiH and Russian institutions, which will be discussed at an expert level and include improving communication in order to solve common problems such as money laundering, crime and terrorism in Europe.

He underlined that he now feels the development of regional cooperation is occurring, which is extremely important because it is not possible to solve these issues in only one country. Wider regional cooperation is needed in a professional and political sense.

Director Zubac talked about the main tasks of SIPA, which are transparent: the fight against organized crime, corruption, terrorism and solving war crimes.

Zubac said that this visit confirms that without regional commitment and involvement of all agencies, regardless of the state, there will not be adequate results and results will not be complete when it comes to solving the most serious crimes.

He said that in the near future there should be a meeting of the Ambassador of Russia with the Minister of Security of BiH Fahrudin Radončić, where an agreement between the two countries will be signed. It would be a legal framework for joint operational action.
