meeting (1)Only in the first month of increased control, switching off illegal connections and the introduction of new users into the system of water supply, the September invoice of Public Utility Company “Water and Sewage” recorded 335,000  m3 of consumed water more than in the previous month, which means about 400,000 BAM of income more.

From 503 inspected consumers, on 123 of them was recorded some kind of manipulation on the water infrastructure. Due to the stealing of water, 30 consumers were switched off, some of them were switched back on after they paid calculated payment rate for last year and 14 users performed repairs on the installations and removed manipulation by themselves, and the system registered 43 new water consumers.

These data were presented today at the meeting of the Team for monitoring of reduction of debt of supplied and consumed water for legal entities and monitoring of reduction and elimination of illegal connections to the water supply and sewage networks of Public Utility Company “Water and Sewerage.” Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo Elmedin Konakovic is encouraged by these indicators:

“This confirms that we are on the right track and that we hit the essence of the problem. It proves that if you put effort, the possibility of eliminating the black market and income collection will arise. When it comes to the evasion of water consumption nobody should be spared, and we will increase dynamics of controls because field data show that there are many large customers that need to be introduced into the system,” said Konakovic.
