After laboratory testing of 846 samples, 131 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton last day. In the same period, 72 of our fellow citizens recovered from the Covid-19 infection. Two people died as a result of this infection.

There are currently 96 patients in hospital, 79 of whom have an acute infection, while the rest are post covid or under observation. At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 55 patients are treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakas “41. There are no patients on a respirator, while 10 of them use oxygen support to breathe above 15 liters per minute.

Today, Sarajevo Canton records 595 active cases of Covid-19 infection. There are currently 1,662 people in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the Sarajevo Canton, a total of 54,448 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 52,586 have been cured.

According to the data of the Public Health Institute of CS, in the past seven days the average number of infected is 86, while the weekly incidence, ie the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 142.

“Given the appearance of delta strain and its high infectivity, we appeal to the population of Sarajevo Canton to respect personal protection measures – maintaining a physical distance of 1.5 to 2 meters, proper wearing of the mask indoors and outdoors, if physical distance cannot be maintained , as well as hand hygiene. We especially emphasize that it is necessary to avoid longer stays indoors, where close contact is possible over a longer period of time, as well as crowds.

“All persons with acute respiratory disorders, fever, muscle pain and general weakness should stay at home and contact the competent health services,” the CS Public Health Institute said.
