Last year, there were a total of 30,238 traffic accidents, of which 6,931 with fatalities and injuries, and 23,307 with property damage.

255 people were killed in traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while 9,799 suffered serious or minor injuries.

During the past year, 535 or 1.8 percent more accidents were registered compared to 2020.

The number of traffic accidents with fatal / injured persons increased by 671 accidents or 10.72 percent.

When it comes to traffic accidents with material damage in the past year, 136 or 0.58 percent fewer accidents were registered compared to 2020, which is partly due to the increasing use of the European Traffic Accident Form by drivers involved in traffic accidents with less material damage.

A large number of traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s roads, among other things, are the result of non-compliance with traffic rules and regulations, as well as low levels of traffic culture and a larger number of traffic participants.

Improper speed and speed unadapted to road conditions are one of the most common causes of traffic accidents, followed by traffic accidents caused by alcohol and other intoxicants, accidents resulting from driving a vehicle in traffic, and other causes such as non-compliance with traffic signals, etc., announced BIHAMK.
