Increase in the Price of Consumer Basket in BiH

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions (SSS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of July is 2,668.32 BAM and is 28.11 BAM more expensive than the previous month.

The SSS announced that the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for the month of May 2022 was 1,110 BAM, which is the latest data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, and that the minimum salary according to the Decision of the Government of FBiH is 543 BAM.

“The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average wage is 41.59 percent. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the minimum wage is 20.35 percent”, announced the SSS BiH.

When creating the union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was taken into account, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket consists of food – 46.23 percent, housing and communal services – 13.65 percent, hygiene and health care – 7.21 percent, education and culture – 7.50 percent, clothing and footwear – 13.49 percent, transportation – 5.17 percent and household maintenance – 6.75 percent.

“In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 86 items. When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, the costs for ten items were counted, and for housing and communal services, the costs for six items”, according to the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH.
