Increase of 10 Percent in Tourists Arrivals to BiH

In September 2018 tourists realized 156,396 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the decrease by 15.8% as compared to August 2018 and increase by 10.2% as compared to September 2017. Tourists realized 312,665 tourist nights which represent the decrease by 27.6% as compared to August 2018 and increase by 9.6% as compared to September 2017. Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 27.1% and foreign tourists share was 72.9%.

The number of domestic tourist nights decreased by 5.2% as compared to August 2018 and increased by 14.6% as compared to September 2017. Foreign tourist nights decreased by 33.5% as compared to August 2018 and increased by 7.8% as compared to September 2017.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in September 2018, the most of them (46.5%) were realised by tourists from: Croatia (7.4%), Serbia (7.0%), Slovenia (6.4%), Poland (6.3%), Turkey (5.1%), Germany (5.0%), Italy (4.9%) (5.1%) and China (4.4%). Tourists from other countries realized 53.5% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes Malta with an average stay by 6.3 nights, Ireland with 3.5 nights, Kuwait with 3.3 nights, the United Arab Emirates with 3.1, Egypt and Bahrain with (2.8%) nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in September 2018 amounted to 20,445 which is 7.4% increase compared to September 2017. Number of available beds was 43.424 beds, which is increased by 6.9%, compared to the same month of 2017.

In September 2018, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 17.600, which is an increase of 5.8% compared to September 2017., and number of available beds amounted to 35.632 which is an increase of 5.4%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

The net occupancy rate of permanent beds was 26.0%.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with share of 91.3%.
