The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan said today that after the terrorist attack in Moscow, the presence of police in public places in the RS has increased, and that there is a special emphasis on securing schools.

“This instills security in our citizens. The presence of MUP members has been increased in shopping centers and other places where a large number of citizens gather. We will increase the security of all institutions, introduce more patrols, especially between Republika Srpska and cantons where there is more transit,” said Karan at a press conference.

Karan pointed out that the last terrorist attack in Moscow intensified the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, taking into account that it can be a reason for radical-minded persons to carry out incidents or cause fear and panic among the population.

According to him, the security assessment of the Ministry of Interior after events in the world, especially those that may have a reflection on Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as terrorism.

He indicated that there is a special emphasis on the security of schools and students, as well as that additional plans will be activated to protect children.

“The holidays are coming, then there will be special security measures. It is necessary for the Ministry of Interior to audit and analyze all sectors when it comes to the service for the protection of persons and property at places of larger gatherings. We are doing everything to be able to react quickly and adequately,” Karan stressed.

He pointed out that they are doing special training so that SAJ and other services can respond to all challenges.

“We assure the citizens that we are doing everything to maintain a favorable security situation. We have hired special units that will monitor activities on the Internet,” added the Minister of the Interior.

In addition, as he noted, the conflict between Israel and Palestine also reflects on Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We are only talking about the impact on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Individuals are trying to create tensions by speaking publicly, which could lead to incidents. There is a particular risk of a new influx of migrants, which represents a security problem,” said Karan.

He added that migration is under control, but that a wave of migrants is threatening, and then as a transit country, they could face an unfathomable problem.

“There are also people who are radical and ready to act, so we will pay attention to that when it comes to migrants. We have increased cooperation with international organizations. We are already providing and have provided information to countries in the region,” said Karan.

He believes that the potential threat to security can also be due to the open conflict in Syria.

“The problem in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina is the criminal treatment of returnees from foreign battlefields. We had physical and conditional punishments,” the minister added.

When it comes to the conflict in Ukraine, Karan believes that supporting one or the other side can be a call to someone to act, especially when talking about Republika Srpska.

“The threat to security is also the actions of the fake, illegitimate Christian Schmidt, that is, the OHR,” said Karan.

When it comes to the state of security, Karan says that it is satisfactory in Republika Srpska, that the trend of criminality is falling, and that is all thanks to the dedicated work of the MUP.

“We are not satisfied with the state of traffic safety, although it is not due to the work of the Ministry of Interior, but irresponsible drivers. We have strengthened controls and repressive measures,” concluded Karan, Srna reports.
