instalacijaAssociation for Social Research and Communication today in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral set the installation “11.541” dedicated to all the victims of the Sarajevo siege, which lasted 1.452 days, from 1992 to 1995.

According to the Coordinator of Association for Social Research and Communication Edvin Kanka Ćudić, by laying down the black cloth with white numbers they wanted to remind people of the 11.541 murdered Sarajevo citizens.

At the same time, their goal is to see if Sarajevo citizens know what that number represents.

The black cloth with white numbers and a bouquet of flowers will remain in front of the Cathedral until further notice.

Ćudić said that this is also a call to make a memorial dedicated to all the victims of the Sarajevo siege.

Nearly a four year blockade of Sarajevo during the war in B&H began by taking the International Airport near Ilidža by the former Yugoslav Army on the night of 4th to 5 April 1992 and ended on 29 February 1996. The Sarajevo siege of 1425 days is one of the longest in the history of modern warfare.

11.541 Sarajevo citizens were killed during the siege, among which 1.601 were children, and 50.000 were wounded people during the siege of Sarajevo. The number of citizens killed during the war in B&H was about 250.000 by the end of the siege in 1995.
