The Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will start tomorrow a three-month campaign to promote vaccination against the HPV virus, with the aim of preventing the disease. At the press conference, they warned of an increase in the number of diagnosed uterine cancers.

“In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, vaccination against ten infectious diseases is carried out, and with the vaccines that are given at the very beginning of life, we are satisfied with the coverage and they are over 90%. The problem arises with the later vaccines that are given so that, for example, with three doses of the pentavalent vaccine, it is somewhere about 70%,” said prof. Ph.D. sc. Sanjin Musa at a press conference organized by the Institute for Public Health of the FBiH.

dr. Musa said that the lower percentage of vaccinated children was recorded with the MRP (measles, rubella, parotitis) vaccine.

“It is given from the 12th to the 24th of the month, and coverage last year was 52%. What is characteristic of this vaccine is the delay. This year, over 2,500 children, of older age groups, were vaccinated with this vaccine. so in the end it is again over 70%,” said dr. Musa.

The press conference announced the start of the Vaccination Promotion Campaign, as well as the events that will accompany the campaign. The campaign is socially responsible and non-commercial in nature and is aimed at several target segments.

The part of the campaign that refers to the vaccination of children, their regular immunization, protection and vaccination of young girls against the HPV virus, which is the main culprit for cervical cancer, is called “For health from the beginning”, while the part of the campaign that is aimed at vaccinating older people who we prevent the risk of getting sick from more severe forms of the disease bear the name “For health that follows the years”.
