The Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) Adnan Delic (People and Justice: Narod i Pravda – NiP) and the director of the PazaricInstitution, Samir Suljagic, spoke out after the video footage of the mistreatment of the inmates of this institution was republished yesterday.

Delic emphasized that he will request the dismissal of the female worker who mistreated the resident – a young man, that the Institute file a criminal complaint against that worker, as well as against those who, as he stated, silently observed and filmed it, and did nothing to prevent it.

He emphasized that he will ask the prosecutor’s office and the police to shed light on this case. He claims that he does not know who else participated in this, why they did it and when it happened. He made a call to Al Jazeera, which was the first to publish the video.

“We call on Al Jazeera and the journalist to be available to the prosecution,” Delic told.

He assures that as a minister, he has not received a single report that something similar happened in any social protection institution under the jurisdiction of FBiH. However, as he said, he believes that something like this happens in other institutions as well. He said that he encourages the reporting of such events. He emphasized that the relevant ministry made several decisions in order to prevent similar events.

Director Suljagic pointed out that he had reports, but that he could not investigate them as director.

“On the same day, I forwarded the reports to the competent authorities – the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the competent prosecutor’s office. For only one report, which I forwarded, I was informed that the investigation was suspended due to the lack of sufficient evidence that the crime took place,” he pointed out.

He stressed that he specifically requested that allegations of such incidents be reported and that a series of disciplinary procedures be conducted in the Institute. He announced that he would comply with the ministry’s request that the worker who harassed the young man be fired, Klix.ba reports.
