The central event of the Pancake Day marking will take place this year in Zenica, on Tuesday, March 5th. The event will be held from 11:00 until 15:00 o’clock.

As part of the event, the International Catering School competition will be held, and students will compete in preparation and serving of this treat.

All visitors will have the opportunity to taste salty and delicious pancakes that are freshly prepared.

The festival is of a non-profit character and aims to promote food and drink producers, gastronomic values and healthy nutrition.

For the most successful participants and the best recipe, the organizer provided prizes and awards.

Last year in October, after eight hours of baking, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s chefs set world record for the largest serving of pancakes here Friday.

For seven hours and 22 minutes, BiH chefs made 12,874 pancakes, thus breaking a record set in Russia on Feb. 25, 2017 when 12,716 pancakes were made. However, 140 chefs continued baking and prepared 14,186 pancakes for eight hours.

Haris Mujezinovic, one of the judges, told reporters that the number of pancakes served is 14,186 and that there were no problems during baking and counting. He believed this is a very good promotion of city of Sarajevo in the world.

Nermin Hodzic, president of the Association of Chefs in BiH, marveled at the success of breaking a record in seven hours and 22 minutes.

“This is a proof that when we are together and when we are united we can win against Russia as well,” Hodzic told reporters with a smile after the pancakes were counted.

All pancakes were packaged and delivered to people in need, orphans, the elderly and migrants. The event was held as part of the Sarajevo Tourism Festival 2018.
