“Book – bridge of civilizations” is the motto under which the B&H Booksellers and Publishers Association (UIKBIH) will present at the International Book Fair in Frankfurt am Main the awarded publishers and works during this year’s Book fair in Sarajevo. On this occasion, Bosnian authors from abroad as well as books translated on other languages and magazines will be presented as well. The fair will lasts until October 12th.
Continuity of participation
Exhibition of photography by Zoran Kanlić will also be presented as a symbolic marking of the past century through a story about bridges, those urban signs of time. The participation at the International Fair in Frankfurt was made possible by the Ministry of sport and culture of FB&H.
The president of the B&H Booksellers and Publishers association, Ibrahim Spahić, stated that the continuity of the participation of B&H at the Fair has been preserved and that during the event many works and publishers which participated at the Sarajevo Book Fair as well as authors living in diaspora will be presented too. A discussion about education, culture and literature will also be organized within the fair.
Business only
As this is the third year that the publishing house “Šahinpašić” has no corner of its own at the Frankfurt Fair, the deputy director of this PH, Ajdin Šahinpašić said that this trip to Frankfurt will be of business nature only e.g. meetings with partners concerning the production (buying author’s rights).
When it comes to PH “Buybook”, it’s been years now that it does not participate at the fair and the co-owner of this PH, Damir Uzunović said that a long-term correspondence with agents (concerning author’s rights, publishing new titles) is continuous during all year.
Due to intensive preparations for the performances to come at the Book fairs in Belgrade and Zagreb, the PH “Connectum”, as Ajet Arifi, its director stated, is not going to participate at the Book Fair in Frankfurt.
