Members of the International Monitoring Mission for the census 2013 in BiH are coming to BiH today and will be here until 19 July.
The aim of the 11th regular visit is to evaluate the progress in the preparations for the census and implementation of the earlier recommendations and compliance for international standards, with an emphasis on the preparation of training materials for training census staff, development of IT infrastructure, central information system and the system for daily reporting, and informing the public on the census.
“Since the last visit the Board of Directors of the International Monitoring Mission in May there has been significant progress in technical preparations for the census and the most critical activity has been solved’’, announced the BiH Agency for Statistics.
The budget for the census has been officially adopted, an agreement for a grant with the EU has been signed and a decision has been brought on the distribution of costs and resources between Agencies and entity bureau of statistics. Preparations for census folders are in their final stages, and a solution has been found for the census on the inter-entity line, the questionnaire has been finalized, instructions and manuals, census committee of local government has been formed, and the election of municipal and city instructors in underway.
“The goal of the International Monitoring Mission in BiH is overseeing the compliance of the entire process list, from preparations to the dissemination of information with international standards for census defined by UNECE and Eurostat, and which was approved by the Conference for European Statisticians as recommendations for the census in 2010, regulation (EK) 763/2008 on population and housing census, implementation measures, fundamental principles of official statistics adopted by the Statistics Commission of the UN, as well as the European statistics code of practice promulgated by the European Commission, the standards of protection and confidentiality, as set out in the convention on the protection of the individual, in regard to the automatic processing of personal data of the Council of Europe, as well as the relevant applicable provision of the EU’’, said the BiH Agency for Statistics.
