International Scientific Conference “Isa-beg Ishakovic” to be held in Sarajevo City Hall

The International Scientific Conference “Isa-beg Ishakovic” will take place on Friday, February 22nd, in the City Hall in BiH’s capital Sarajevo.

The organizer, Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Isa-beg Ishakovic, will gather international, recognized experts in order to discuss the historical, political, economic and social impact of Isa-beg Ishakovic on Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

It is also important to note that 2019 is the anniversary year of 557 years of Isa-beg Ishakovic’s Vakufnama, a paper that is considered to be the birth certificate of the city of Sarajevo.

The conference will be opened by the lecture “The Roots of Sarajevo” by prof. dr. Enver Imamovic, continue by lecture of prof. dr. Enes Pelidija, who will talk about the topic “Bosnian Kingdom and Ishakovici”, followed by lecture on the social impact of Isa-beg Ishakovic in current time by dr. Sedad Beslija with the lecture titled “The role of Isa-beg Ishakovic in the implementation of the Ottoman policy “, continue by prof. dr. Aladin Husic, who will hold a lecture on the topic “Isa-Beg Ishakovic- the Indication of a New Epoch” and mr. Osman Lavic who speak on “Contribution of Isa-beg Ishakovic to the development of intellectual thought in our region”.

About Isa-beg Ishakovic, an academic and professor at the University of Skopje, Ferid Muhić and prof. dr. Ismet Busatlic, will present the paper on the topic “Gazi Isa-bey and children of the Bosnian king”. On this occasion, two works by guest authors will be presented. The University of Edinburgh University professor Ines Aščerić-Todd specifically prepared the paper on the topic “The influence of Dervish in the formation of urban environments in Bosnia”, while dr. Vesna Miović from the University of Dubrovnik will speak on “Isa-beg Ishaković and Dubrovčani”.

President of the Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Isa-beg Ishakovic, Elvis Pivic, pointed out that, third year in a row, the Association continues the mission of encouraging the discussion about the person and work of Isa-beg Ishakovic and the f the city of Sarajevo for 557 years.

“For this year’s conference, scientific works have been specially prepared which, on the basis of facts, represent the enormous mark that Isa-beg left on our territory. We are glad that all works will be available to new generations that will have the opportunity to learn from our past, “said Pivic, and invited citizens to attend the conference.

The Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Isa-beg Ishakovic was established in the year of 2016 and its main mission is revitalization of the character and work of the founder of the city of Sarajevo, Isa-beg Ishakovic. The development of a sense of love for BiH and the protection of its traditional, spiritual and cultural being are the main aims of the Association, as well as the protection of the cultural heritage of our country and the promotion of natural, cultural and historical heritage of Isa-beg Ishakovic and BiH.
