The premiere of the film “Bosanski lonac” (Bosnian pot) will be held on August 13th as part of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) in the Open Air program. “Bosanski lonac” is a co-production of Croatia, Austria, Bosnia, and Herzegovina (BiH), and the director is Pavo Marinkovic. The main role is played by one of the most famous BiH actors, Senad Basic.
After his health problems, Senad Basic spoke about his career for an interview, but also about the film “Bosanski lonac”, which we will soon have the opportunity to watch.
About the movie “Bosanski lonac”
Interview question: “When we arranged this interview, we were also waiting for the official presentation of the film “Bosanski lonac”. In the film, you play the main role, Faruk Sega, an unsuccessful Bosnian writer. What makes this film special?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a more difficult role, just for one simple reason: 80 percent of the role was written in German. I had to be able to speak as if I had been in Austria for 20 years. It was very hard, I also had a lector. The director Pavo Marinkovic provided me with lectors, together with the production Telefilm from Zagreb,” Basic stated.
Interview question: “What was it like to work with the director Pavo Marinkovic?”
“The cooperation with Pavo Marinkovic was excellent. He enabled about 15 days of preparation, he brought people from Austria. We waited another 15 days and left for Austria. A wonderful director. He is not an authority in the sense of a tyrant. He is very happy to listen to his collaborators, and even to us actors,” Basic expressed.
The biggest support throughout his career
Interview question: “Who has been your biggest support throughout your career?”
“My wife is my biggest support. When we had an erotic scene in Adria Blues, directed by Miroslav Mandic, she turned to me and said: “This is your acting?”. She accepted everything and she was really my biggest support in everything. When it was difficult, and even when I was doing well, she was always my biggest support,” he stated.
Interview question: “I must also refer to the role of Faruk from the series Lud, zbunjen, normalan (Crazy, confused, normal). Coincidentally, now in the new film, you are again playing the role of a man called Faruk. Does it bother you that some people still call you Faruk, Rukfas…?”
“Not at all. This means that the audience liked it and recognized it. It’s like in the United States (U.S.). You have recognized and unrecognized actors. For example, Harvey Keitel worked in all of Martin Charles Scorsese’s films and nobody remembered him. He even played in the movie “Taxi Driver”. When he played in the movie “Bad Lieutenant”, then the whole of Hollywood saw the splendor of his talent and after that, he got good roles. Therefore, to sum it up, it’s great to be called Faruk,” Basic said.
What was it like working with Nadarevic?
Interview question: “What was it like working with Mustafa Nadarevic?”
“It was excellent. We had already worked together in the past in the film “Praznik u Sarajevu” (Holiday in Sarajevo), directed by Benjamin Filipovic. Then in the films “Savrseni krug” (The Perfect Circle), “Kod amidze Idriza” (Days and Hours) and “Nafaka” and then we entered “Lud, zbunjen, normalan”. It was a positive atmosphere, readiness for improvisation, readiness for cooperation, and for partner play with the full awareness that we are not doing it for us, but for the audience. When you find someone like that, then you are very satisfied that you are playing. And then you realize that acting is a game. Of course, you need to have the inclination and ability,” he concluded, N1 reports.
