Press conference of Steinmeier and Hammond in BerlinThe ministers of foreign affairs of Great Britain and Germany, Phillip Hammond and Frank Walter Steinmeier offered several propositions to BH politicians, which should, as they stated, speed up the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. For the moment, Great Britain and Germany will request for the EU Institutions to put aside temporarily the Sejdić-Finci matter and to start with some social and economic reforms which can speed up the signing process.

During the 6th Aspen conference of ministers of foreign affairs of the South Eastern Europe, held in Berlin and organized by the Aspen Institute Germany, Hammond and Steinmeier addressed a letter to the BH politicians to form governments at all levels as soon as possible so that our country could move forward.

The ministers ask for the BH politicians to make a written statement about their engagement in the institutional reforms at all state levels in order to make the country functional and to enable it for a more efficient cooperation with the EU. They should also accept the agreement about making a wide plan of reforms which should accelerate the signing process.

“If your politicians do that, than we will demand that the EU finally puts into force the Stabilisation and association agreement so that B&H can benefit from the financial investments” – stated the ministers.

“There is no more time to lose. The economic situation in your country is extremely concerning.” – added Hammond and Steinmeier.

In their letter addressed to BH politicians and citizens they stated that their proposition does not changes the conditions necessary to access the EU.
