Iran gives One Month to reach Agreement on Strait of Hormuz and end Conflict

Iran has set a one-month deadline for reaching a deal that would include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending the US naval blockade and permanently ending the war in Iran and Lebanon, Axios reported on Saturday.

Tehran submitted a revised 14-point proposal for a framework agreement to Washington on Thursday. According to sources familiar with the document, the plan sets a strict deadline for agreement on key issues – naval access, lifting the blockade and a permanent ceasefire.

The second phase of negotiations would follow only after an initial agreement is reached and would last an additional month, focusing on Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump considering proposal, but in his own style
US President Donald Trump said he would consider the proposal, but made no secret of his doubts about its acceptability.

“I’m looking at it. I’ll let you know later,” Trump told reporters before flying from Palm Beach to Miami.

Shortly afterwards, he took a harsher stance, saying he could not imagine the proposal would be acceptable, adding that Iran had not “paid a big enough price” for its actions in recent decades.

Asked about possible new military strikes, Trump said that option was open.

Blockade of Hormuz remains a key point of contention
Trump described the US blockade of Iranian ports as a “very friendly and uncontroversial measure”, claiming that it did not contradict his previous statements about the end of hostilities.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central point of negotiations, as it is one of the most important global routes for transporting energy, the closure of which has serious consequences for world markets.
