Iran does not want war with Israel or the United States, but is ready to strike back if attacked again, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said.
Speaking in Beirut, Aragchi told reporters that Iran is also ready to negotiate with the US on its nuclear program, as long as the talks are based on mutual respect and not Washington’s “dictation”.
The minister’s comments come as many fear that close US ally Israel will attack Iran again as it did during the 12-day war in June, when Israel killed senior military officials and nuclear scientists and the US bombed Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities.
“America and Israel tested their attack on Iran and that attack and strategy met with extreme failure,” Aragchi said at the start of a two-day visit to Lebanon.
“If they do it again, they will face the same results,” said the head of Iranian diplomacy.
