Iran has announced that it is unilaterally canceling visas for 28 countries as of February 4 in order to revive tourism in the country.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alireza Bigdeli stated that the directive on the unilateral exemption from visas for citizens of some countries for tourism purposes in Iran has been forwarded to the relevant institutions.

He pointed out that the visa exemption will apply to 28 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Tanzania, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus and India.

He added that Indian nationals from these 28 countries will be able to enter Iran by air without the need for a visa, but will have to obtain a visa to enter through land borders.

“Citizens of these 28 countries traveling to Iran for tourism purposes will not need a visa to travel to Iran from February 4, 2024,” Bigdeli said.
