Municipal Mayor Irfan Čengić is on a working visit to Istanbul.

In very meaningful meetings with the Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoğlu, the Mayor of Fatih M. Ergün Turan, the Mayor of Silivri Municipality Boro Balcioğlu, the Mayor of Bayrampaşa Municipality Hasan Mutlu and the delegation of Bağcilar Municipality, he discussed the cooperation so far and the projects and activities for the next period.

“During my stay in Istanbul, I met with officials of both CHP and AKP, because I believe that institutional ties and ties between our peoples must be maintained, not ties based on personal, party or other sympathies,” Čengić emphasized.

He pointed out that he is particularly pleased with the agreed cooperation in the field of tourism, i.e. the opportunity that will be given to us to present the Old Town and the City of Sarajevo in Istanbul,” Cengic said.

He added that he informed the mayor of Fatih Municipality, Ergün Turan, about the plans for the reconstruction of the House of the Armed Forces of BiH and the square in front of it, because it was this municipality that financed the reconstruction of Oslobođenja Square – Alija Izetbegović, and all of this together represents a whole in the center of our city.

A meeting was also held with Remzija Albayrak, director of the Fire Department of the City of Istanbul, with whom cooperation was agreed for DVD Vratnik.

In addition to meetings with the mayor and chiefs, he also met with representatives of the Bosniak community in Istanbul.

“On every international visit, I try to visit my compatriots. This community is very influential and respectable in Turkey and it is important to use that factor for the benefit of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, stated Čengić.

The delegation of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo attended events on the occasion of National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, Klix.ba reports.
