The best paraswimmer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ismail Barlov, achieved a notable result on the first day of the European Senior Paraswimming Championship, winning fourth place in the final of his discipline.
A member of the SPID Swimming Club competed in the new class SB3, after he found out only a day before the start of the competition that he was placed in a higher category in the international classification.
Despite the change of class and significantly stronger competition, Barlov managed to win a high fourth position, which represents a great success in the new circumstances.
The current runner-up from the Paralympic Games in Paris expressed his satisfaction with the result, especially considering that he is competing against much stronger rivals.
“After I got a higher class yesterday in the international classification, and thus I am performing in extremely strong competition, fourth place is an extremely good result for me at the moment. I am satisfied with my result, because even in much stronger competition I remained at the top and among the best on the Old Continent”, said Barlov.
Barlov will return to the pool tomorrow, when he will compete in the 150 meter medley, where he will try to win a new final and continue the fight for a medal at the European competition of the best paraswimmers.
In addition to Barlov, Ismail Zulfić is also defending Bosnia and Herzegovina’s colors at the European Championship.
