Member of the BiH Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Ismeta Dervoz, who is also a member of the Committee for Culture, Education and Media of the Council of Europe, participated at the two-day session of the committee held in Paris from 11-12 March 2013.

The session was marked by two themes: Internet and education of youth and their fundamental rights.

With the participation of experts from UNESCO, professors Universities in Helsinki, Hamburg, London, Brussels and Paris, participants of these meetings illuminated some of the aspects and opportunities for Internet access, impact of information on the democratic process and the state of cyber security space.

Special interest sparked discussion regarding the forms, importance, transparency and effects of the growing political campaigns conducted on the internet and their impact on the final results of individuals and parties.

Member states of the Council of Europe expressed their concern for the position and opportunities of young people regarding educational, economic and financial problems.

The Committee adopted a draft proposal on the need of finding instruments to define the principles of recognition and validation of non-formal and informal education and the fight against all forms of violence in schools.

They proposed the naming of an Ombudsman for Youth at the level of the Council of Europe to ensure respect and protection of the rights of young people.

From the draft resolution, Ismeta Dervoz signaled the call of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for member countries to adopt an approach whereby it will provide adequate sources of funds for education that would not be less than six percent of the gross domestic product.

There was also a discussion on the report “Identity and Differences Toward Intercultural Society”, which is in the preparatory phase.

The job of the rapporteur is to try to provide and answer to the question as to how multicultural societies could characterize tolerance in the best way and realize a concept of intercultural tolerance and create a society in which we would share space, experience, values, care and empathy for one another.
