Yesterday, Israel’s Supreme Planning Council approved the plans for the construction of 3.500 housing units in the occupied West Bank.

The new homes will be built in the Jewish-only settlements of Ma’ale Adumim, Efrat, and Kedar in the West Bank.

“The State of Israel will continue to grow and develop in all areas, and settlements will also continue to grow, progress, and flourish,” said Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in a statement.

“This year, we have done a lot for the settlements. Along with approving housing units, we are promoting a series of settlements, land cadastres, security, roads, and other announcements in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) on an unprecedented scale,” he added.

According to Palestinian sources, about 725.000 settlers live in 176 Jewish settlements and 186 outposts in the occupied West Bank.

Under international law, all Jewish settlements in occupied territories are considered illegal.
