Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Kac, in a letter addressed to his French counterpart Stephane Sejourne, expressed concern that Israeli athletes and tourists could become targets of terrorist attacks during the Summer Olympics in Paris.

The letter does not state whether Israel has any specific information about the impending attacks, nor does it cite any evidence. The Olympic Games begin in Paris on Friday and end on August 11.

“Certain intelligence indicates that Iranian agents and other terrorist groups are planning to attack members of the Israeli delegation and Israeli visitors. This underscores our (Israeli and French) mutual interest in ensuring the safety of all (Olympics) participants,” the letter said.

The Summer Olympics in Paris begin this Friday, and security measures in the French capital are at an all-time high.

30,000 armed police patrol the streets every day. On the day of the start, they will be joined by another 25,000 private security personnel and 18,000 French soldiers. Paris has closed important monuments and their surroundings.

In the letter, Kac praised the security approach of Paris.

“I would like to express my immense gratitude for the excellent security measures taken by the French government to ensure the safety of our delegation and tourists. This is a clear demonstration of the determination of President (Emmanuel) Macron and the French government to confront these hostile elements who want to undermine the legitimacy of the participation of Israel at the Olympic Games,” commented the head of diplomacy of the Jewish state.

We remind you that many activists expressed their indignation at the double standards, that is, the expulsion of Russia, which started the war in Ukraine, while Israel, which has been waging a brutal war in Gaza for more than 10 months, in which more than 40,000 Palestinians are killed, Klix.ba writes.
