Israel is sending a Delegation to Cairo to negotiate a cease-fire in Gaza

Israel will send a delegation to Cairo on Saturday or Sunday to negotiate a Gaza ceasefire and a hostage and prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.

As announced by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Israeli delegation will travel to Cairo on Saturday or Sunday for indirect negotiations on the cease-fire in Gaza and the agreement on the exchange of prisoners.

Hamas has not yet commented on this issue, reports Anadolu.

As Israel’s “Kanal 12” reported, after the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with the directors of the Israeli intelligence services on the evening of August 1 was marked by sharp discussions and verbal arguments.

At the meeting, the parties evaluated the new points that Netanyahu wanted to add to the cease-fire agreement in Gaza and how a diplomatic solution could be reached with Lebanon in the north of Israel.

The director of Israel’s domestic intelligence agency Shin-Bet Ronen Bar told the meeting that he felt the prime minister did not want the draft agreement proposal on the table.

At least 39,480 Palestinians, including 16,314 children and 10,980 women, have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

In violation of a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered it to immediately end its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians sought refuge from the war before it was attacked on May 6.
