Israel’s military announced on Saturday that it had killed Hezbollah’s top intelligence commander in an airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon.

The military said its air force had killed Hassan Khalil Yassin, who was in charge of Hezbollah’s intelligence.

“Yassin headed the department responsible for identifying civilian and military targets, on the northern border and deep inside Israeli territory,” the statement said.

In addition to the attacks on Gaza, Israel continues extensive airstrikes in Lebanon that have killed hundreds and displaced thousands of people this week.

Hezbollah and Israel have been in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip, which has killed nearly 41,600 people. In the latest Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, the leader of the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was also killed, AA writes.
