mladen ivanicChairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic received Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to BiH Nicole Minasi and wished him a successful mandate.

The newly appointed Ambassador noted in his greeting speech that he will work on maintaining and strengthening the excellent relations between Italy and BiH as well as the promotion of the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH.

While discussing the internal political situation in BiH, Ivanic introduced the newly appointed Italian ambassador about the reforms that are carried out within the Reform Agenda, and stated that BiH is committed to preserving the positive reform process, as well as to obtain the status for candidate for membership in the EU by the end of 2017.

He also noted that the membership in EU is the most important foreign policy priority and strategic objective of BiH and that the prospect of membership in the EU is the driving force for positive democratic, political, economic and social changes in BiH.

They evaluated overall bilateral relations between BiH and Italy as neighborly, very friendly and unburdened by open issues.

They agreed that there is still place for expansion of relations between the two countries when it comes to economy, culture, education, connecting cities and regions, the joint activities through international organizations, and encouragement of direct contacts between citizens of the two countries.

At the ceremony was also discussed the upcoming summit of leaders of the Western Balkans in the framework of the Berlin initiative in the Italian Trieste, for which they assessed that it is very important for future cooperation in the region, as announced from the Presidency of BiH.
