Ribić Girls Funeral faktor.baFuneral for four sisters Ribić – Zlatija (13), Zijada (7), Suvada (5) and Almasa (4) – who were killed during the genocide in Zvornik in July 1992 was held yesterday in the settlement Skočić, Zvornik. The funeral was attended by around 200 people.

Coffins with bones of little girls from Zvornik were transferred from the Commemoration Center Tuzla to the cemetery in Skočić in afternoon hours.

Funeral prayer was performed after the Asr Prayer. It was led by Bakir ef. Šabić, envoy of the Mufti of Tuzla.

Brother Zijo lowered all four coffins of his sisters to the graves, which is an unprecedented case so far in Podrinje. They are buried next to their mother Šefka and father Ismet, who were earlier found in the mass grave Crni Vrh.

As a reminder, on July 12, 1992, monsters and human scum from paramilitary formation who called themselves “Sima’s Chetniks” killed six underage sisters, an underage brother, and parents of Zijo Ribić. Prior to execution of the family Ribić and their neighbors and cousins, they raped the 13-year-old Zlatija, whose funeral was held yesterday.

Zijo was taken to the pit, he was thrown a knife at, shot and dumped on the bodies of the killed. The eight-year-old boy miraculously survived. This young man, who has been left alone, is still to search for his sisters Ismeta and Zlata and brother Sabrija, the two-year-old child who just made his first steps in July 1992.
