12900053_1145118185539136_752456419_nConstruction of a new residential facility for social housing will begin soon in the Municipality of Kakanj, the municipality which has been recording successes in the field of residential housing of all social categories in the past three years.

The partner humanitarian organization “HIlfswerk Austria International” will soon launch the construction of a new residential facility with eight apartments in the Varda settlement, for the purpose of housing the Romani families.

Significant financial means that Kakanj received are a result of, as this municipality states, a serious approach by the municipal administration to the solving of the problem of housing of Romani families in the Varda settlement and the endeavors to urbanize this city location. The donors recognized these intentions and eventually included this local community among the municipalities where the residential units for Romani people will be built.

Funds for the construction of eight new social residential units are provided by the European Union, represented by the European Commission, then by the Hilfswerk Austria International and the Municipality of Kakanj.

Users of these residential units will be selected by the commission of the Kakanj Municipality and the final list will be verified by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH.
