The eighth “Jahorina Economic Forum”, a regional event in the field of economy entitled “Western Balkans Agenda – Growth Plan”, was officially opened on Jahorina today.

The forum was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, the President of the Economic Forum Goran Račić and the program partner Dragan Šaganović.

Dodik welcomed all those present and emphasized the importance of the “Jahorina Economic Forum” for the economy of the Republika Srpska.

“Jahorina has become a symbol for the meeting of successful people from the public, real and business sectors and people with vision”, said Dodik, adding that the common goal is to ensure growth and a better life.

When asked about the common goals around which the region could come together, Serbian Prime Minister Macut said at the central panel “Growth Plan – Conversation with Leaders” that he is not an economist, but that he knows the reality we live in well and that it is certainly something that unites us all.

“I certainly think that, if we are talking now in the long term, these are infrastructure projects and that our future is definitely in connectivity,” Macut emphasized.

He added that the Republika Srpska has already made significant progress in this regard, primarily in transport infrastructure, but also in industry and construction. He also said that integration in joint projects and plans is something that is a reality and a need for this part of Europe.

The President of the Economic Forum, Goran Račić, emphasized that they want to focus on economic topics with this event.

“At the same time, our ambition is to contribute to the strengthening of the region and the creation of a common market. We have a plan to rapidly develop our infrastructure. However, we are still not at the level of development that we strive for,” Račić emphasized.

The focus of this year’s Forum is on concrete strategies and steps towards sustainable development and economic transformation of the region and will bring together high-ranking officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, leading economists, leaders from the private and public sectors, representatives of international organizations and investors in one place to jointly shape the direction of the region’s future development.
