In January 55 000 Tourists visited BiH

touristsIn January 2017 tourists realised 55,318 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the decrease by 24,4% as compared to December 2016 and increase by 11,6% as compared to January 2016.

Tourists realised 124,527 tourist nights which represent the decrease by 9.7% as compared to December 2016 and increase by 9.9% as compared to January 2016. Domestic tourists share of total number of overnight stays was 34.7% and foreign tourists share was 65.3%.

The number of domestic tourist nights decreased by 28.0% as compared to December 2016 and decreased by 3.2% as compared to January 2016. Foreign tourist nights increased by 4.4% as compared to December 2016 and increased by 18.4% as compared to January 2016.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in January 2017, the most of them (65.6%) were realised by tourists from: Croatia (33.5%), Serbia (14.7%), Turkey (7.1%), Slovenia (5.6%) and Montenegro (4.7%). Tourists from other countries realised 34.4% of tourist nights. Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes: Malta with average stay by 13.0 nights, South Africa with 4.9 nights, Bahrain and Qatar by 3.4 nights, Kuweit with 3.3 nights, and Denmark with 3.2 nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in January 2017 amounted to 17,319, which is 16.9% increase compared to January 2016. Number of available beds was 36,538 beds, which is increase by 18.2%, compared to the same month of 2016.

In January 2017, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 15,451 which is an increase of 14.7% compared to January 2016., and number of available beds amounted to 31,459 which is an increase of 14.2%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Net occupancy rate of permanent beds in January 2017 was 11.6%. According to the type of accommodation facility the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with share of 93.3%.
