The Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with Japan Tobacco International (JTI), organizes a special concert by a renowned Japanese drummer band ONDEKOZA in Sarajevo. The event will take place on 20 September 2024 at 17:00 at Trg Prve brigade policije (across from Sarajevo City Hall). Entrance is free and open to all. We warmly invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable evening of rhythm and cultural exchange.

WA-DAOKO(Japanese drumming) is a traditional Japanese percussion instrument that uses the whole body to beat the drum and create rhythm. Its dynamic and energetic performances attract people from all over the world.

ONDEKOZA, known for its powerful and dynamic “WA-DAIKO” performances, was founded in 1969 and has captivated audiences worldwide with its fusion of traditional Japanese music and contemporary rhythms. The band’s unique style, which combines musical performance with elements of physical endurance, has made it a global ambassador of Japanese culture. This is the second time in eight years that they have performed in Sarajevo, having first performed there in 2016.

This is a prefect opportunity to experience the mesmerizing art of “WA-DAIKO” in Sarajevo. This unique cultural event offers a captivating performance that brings the spirit and energy of traditional Japanese drumming to the heart of Sarajevo.
In addition to the concert, it is planned to hold a workshop and a lecture by Japanese musicians and the details will be revealed soon.
