The Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced that the Japanese Film Festival will be held in Tuzla from 19 to 21 December 2025, in cooperation with the Japan Foundation and the Culture Center Tuzla. The event is part of the Japanese Film Festival 2025–2026 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is taking place in five cities across the country between November 2025 and February 2026.

Following successful screenings in Trebinje and Mostar, Tuzla will be the third host city of the festival. After Tuzla, the festival will continue in Sarajevo and Banja Luka. This marks the first time that Tuzla is hosting the Japanese Film Festival, an occasion welcomed with particular pride and enthusiasm by the organizers.

The Embassy of Japan expressed its excitement about introducing Japanese cinema to Tuzla, describing the city as historic and culturally vibrant. The three films selected for this year’s program reflect different aspects of Japanese society and provide audiences with an opportunity to gain deeper insights into Japan from various perspectives.

The festival is also taking place in the context of an important milestone in bilateral relations, as Japan and Bosnia and Herzegovina will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in February 2026. The organizers hope that the Japanese Film Festival will further strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

All screenings will be held at the Culture Center Tuzla, with free admission for visitors. The films will be shown in Japanese with English and local-language subtitles.
