japanski_filmThe week of Japanese film as part of the festival ‘Sarajevska Zima’ began last night in Kino Meeting Point in Sarajevo with a screening of the movie ‘Ninjas, a Band of Assassins’ from 1962.

At the opening of Japanese Film Week, the Deputy Ambassador of Japan to B&H Kazumasa Miyazaki said that all films will be dedicated to ninja warriors, and will be shown until 25 February.

He said that this year’s participation at the ‘Sarajevska Zima’ festival is the continuation of cooperation with the Festival and Kino Meeting Point.

Deputy Ambassador Miyazaki recalled that ninja warriors are a part of Japanese culture and that the warriors served in secret missions and gathered information. They were skilled secret agents who, in addition to active individual action, had strictly defined positions and functions within their units.

He also said that the aim of the Embassy of Japan in B&H is to inform the public through seven days of culture on ninja warriors, culture and the people of Japan.

The Director of the festival Ibrahim Spahić recalled that the Embassy of Japan to B&H is this year’s winner of the award of silver flakes in the film category, which is awarded by the festival.

The films will start at 18:00 and entrance to all films is free.
