The day of the concert of Joan Baez in Sarajevo is getting closer, and she is one of the very few true icons today, as well as worldwide acknowledged singer, composer, artist and activist.

Joan Baez was the first star who visited Sarajevo back in April 1993 and she held two humanitarian concerts in the hall of Imperial Cinema as a support to residents of Sarajevo, and she returned to Sarajevo and performed again in the year of 2008.

Although she was known as the “Queen of the American Folk” back in the 60’s of the last century, her music now also includes certain elements of rock, pop, country and gospel music.

She published more than 30 albums in eight world languages during her rich musical career. After whole ten years of studio break, she released a new album called “Whistle Down the Wind” on March 2, 2018, and this work received great critics.

With the release of her latest album, she started the worldwide tour “Fare Thee Well” that will last until the year of 2019. On a long list of concerts, which also includes two-day concerts in the Royal Albert Hall (London) and fifteen-days concerts in L’Olympia (Paris), artist Joan Baez expressed her special desire to give the honour and privilege to Sarajevo with the only performance in this region. Her performance is scheduled on March 31, in the Hall of the Bosnian Cultural Center.

Besides her own songs, she often performs songs by some of the greatest world stars, such as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Woody Guthrie, Kris Kristofferson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Band, Aretha Franklin, Ennio Morricone, Donovan, The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, and she also sang the song of BH artists Kemal Monteno “Sarajevo, my love” and “There is some secret connection” by Bijelo Dugme.
