Jordan won’t allow regional war to unfold on its land: King

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has declared that his country will not be a field of regional war.

King Abdullah had a phone conversation with US President Joe Biden following Iran’s attacks on Israel.

They discussed the developments in the region, efforts to reduce tensions and achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. The leaders emphasized the importance of coordination in relation to the development of events in the region.

Warning against any Israeli escalation that would widen the axis of conflict in the region, King Abdullah declared that his country would not be the site of a regional war.

The Jordanian king stated that the way to stop the escalation and protect the region from negative effects is to stop the attacks on Gaza.

Calling for the protection of civilians in Gaza, Abdullah II stated that adequate and continuous access to humanitarian aid to Gaza should be ensured.

Iran launched an airstrike against Israel late Saturday in retaliation for an April 1 airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic facility in Damascus, Syria. At least seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, including two generals, were killed in that attack.

The Revolutionary Guard confirmed the launch of dozens of drones and rockets towards Israel on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there is speculation that Israel may decide to retaliate, which experts believe could trigger an all-out regional war, AA writes.
