The Appellate Council of The Hague Tribunal yesterday partially adopted the request by the Tribunal’s prosecution and defense of Radovan Karadžić for extension of the deadline for appeal by both parties and for the response to the submitted appeals.
According to the Decision, Karadžić and The Hague prosecution have another 135 days for submitting an appeal, no later than December 5, and from that day another 85 days for mutual responses to the appeals, stated The Hague Tribunal.
The prosecution and Karadžić asked for another 135 days for responses to the appeals.
They explained the reasons for extension of the deadline with complexity of Karadžić’s case, the length of verdict and the volume of material on which the verdict is based, and the court partially adopted the given explanations.
Former president of Republika Srpska Radovan Karadžić was sentenced to 40 years in prison in late March. He announced that he will appeal on 50 counts of the verdict.
