Christiane Amanpour, the famous CNN war reporter, today received a plaque for “Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo” from the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić.

Conveying unbiased news from the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina during wartime was especially important, and Sarajevo did not forget that Amanpour. Also, this legendary journalist did not forget Sarajevo.

“Sarajevo has friends all over the world, especially dear and important to us are those who were with us when it was the hardest. Amanpour is one of them. Today I had the honor of presenting her with the recognition of the city of Sarajevo. She is an honorary citizen of Sarajevo and received that award in 2000, and until now we have not had the opportunity to present it to her personally. As of today, we can officially say that Amanpour is completely our Sarajka,” said Karić.
