Thirty-one-year-old Kenan Tahirovic became a new face of the fashion scene in BiH and the region. He achieved his sudden popularity thanks to Instagram, where he published his photographs that were taken by his older brother.
Almost a year or less since his first post on Instagram, Kenan started getting calls to appear in commercials, music videos, and to promote international brands.
He was invited to play in a music video of US singer Asher Monroe for the song “Sail On”. Haris Dubica, who directed the spot, praised Tahirovic. Now they are very good friends, and Kenan is helping him at the video shootings.
“I never thought about dealing with this kind of job, because I do not see myself as some ‘special guy.’ I am just an ordinary figure, but Instagram took me here. My brother was pushing me the most, he took my photographs, advised me, and if it was not for him, none of this would even happen. He is my older brother, we are very close,” he said.
Recently, he recorded a video with a football star in Barcelona, which will be shown at the World Championship. He also appeared in a music video for one of the most popular singers from the former Yugoslavia, and that video should be released soon.
Because of his specific look, in Spain it is thought that he is “theirs.” In Europe, people often think that he is Italian, while people in Sarajevo think that he is from Turkey. The most interesting situation happened in Belgrade when some girls thought that Kenan was actually Bali-bey (Burak Ozcivit) and secretly photographed him.
He is planning to start a private business with his brother that they have been working on for several years. He believes that new generations and the return of the Diaspora will lead to positive changes in BiH with new things such as urbanism and knowledge, which our country really needs to move from the dead point.
