Zeljko Komsic, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), received Brigadier General of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo Pamela McGaha in a working visit, who emphasized that NATO is committed to preserving security and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.

This meeting discussed the current political and security situation in BiH and at the international level, in the context of the war in Ukraine, and the risks of escalating conflicts in BiH and other Western Balkan countries.

The interlocutors welcomed the cooperation of BiH with the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo and NATO member states and concluded that this cooperation must be even stronger in the future, in order for BiH to meet all preconditions for full membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

Komsic emphasized that the support they provide to the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) and the Ministry of Defense of BiH is extremely important in order to preserve peace, stability, and security of all citizens.

McGaha reiterated the support of the NATO Peace and Stability Headquarters in BiH and thanked for the continuous cooperation with the BiH Ministry of Defense and the AFBiH.

The topic of the meeting was the current blockade of state institutions, which prevents the adoption of the budget of institutions and international obligations of BiH, due to which, among other things, funds intended for projects related to defense reform and European integration were blocked.

Chairman Komsic thanked the Brigadier General for assistance and support to the reform and integration processes in the field of defense and expressed confidence that it will continue to develop in the future with the aim of harmonizing the AFBiH with NATO standards, as was announced by the BiH Presidency.
