Komsic, Dzaferovic, and Abazovic: Good friendly Relations between BiH and Montenegro

During the meeting of the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic with Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, satisfaction was expressed with the exceptionally good friendly relations between BiH and Montenegro. Also, it was pointed outthat both countries are committed to improving regional cooperation and good neighborly relations.

Komsic and Dzaferovic emphasized that BiH is committed to activities aimed at improving and continuing political dialogue in our region, and strengthening cooperation in various areas that are of particular importance for the stability of the region.

They reiterated BiH’s commitment to resolving issues with its neighbors through dialogue while respecting the principles of BiH’s foreign policy, as well as the principles that are an integral part of international law. They emphasized the readiness of BiHfor a constructive and continuous dialogue in order to make progress in resolving open issues.

Furthermore, it was stated that BiH and Montenegro achieve comprehensive institutional cooperation in different areas, especially at the political level, in strengthening regional cooperation and in the segment of contractual regulations.

Also, the readiness to improve cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructural connections, energy, tourism, science, culture, and education was emphasized. They further discussed the importance of infrastructure projects, such as the reconstruction of the road Foca-Scepan Polje, the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian highway, which are, as said, requirementsfor strengthening trade and exploiting the tourist potential of both countries.

While speaking about the foreign policy priorities in terms of membership in the European Union (EU) and NATO, it was pointed out that it will contribute to lasting stability and progress in the region. They also talked about the current political situation after the elections in Montenegro and the transition of power, the position of minorities in Montenegro, and other topics.

Komsic and Dzaferovic expressed gratitude to the Parliament of Montenegro, which adopted the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in June this year.

Abazovic thanked the members of the BiH Presidency, Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic, for the reception.

”He said that he would attend the marking of the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide and that a large high-level delegation would be headed by Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic. Also, he stressed that the Government, the people, and the citizens of Montenegro respect and accept the truth and the past and that they are building the future of their country on those foundations, ” was announced by the Presidency of BiH.
