Konakovic and Cudic after Meeting with the Quint Ambassadors

Representatives of the Troika parties and ambassadors of the Quinte countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy) held a meeting in Sarajevo today regarding the threats that Russia has made to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and leader of the People and Justice party Elmedin Konaković stated that the situation is being closely monitored, and that the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are ready to respond to all scenarios. He emphasized that the reaction of the institutions in the recent period has been significantly better than before, which, according to him, has led to Milorad Dodik and his party “finding themselves in a corner for the first time”.

“We have not fallen into the trap of hysterical reaction, but are strengthening institutions that can respond adequately. We are exchanging information with our partners from the Quinte countries because the threats from Russia are not harmless,” Konaković emphasized, adding that he has sent a letter to the foreign ministers of the United States and Great Britain to inform them in detail about the situation.

Sabina Ćudić, a member of the Presidency of Our Party, assessed that a high level of agreement was reached with the ambassadors at the meeting and it was agreed that such consultations would continue.

“Milorad Dodik’s hysterical reactions should not be responded to in kind, but wisely. Republika Srpska is faced with the easiest decision in history – to choose prosperity and the European path or to follow the former official into the abyss,” said Ćudić.

She added that the crisis also represents an opportunity for BiH to take a decisive step towards the European Union, and stressed the importance of supporting “healthy forces” that want a stable and secure state. She also recalled the results of the Troika’s policies, including the arrival of Frontex and Eurojust in BiH.

The meeting was held after the Russian Embassy in BiH, commenting on the second-instance verdict in the case of Milorad Dodik and the removal of the mandate of the President of the RS, said that “the existence of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a single state is at stake.”
