Armored vehicles purchased in the United States (U.S.) for the needs of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) were delivered to Kosovo two days ago, confirmed the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The handover ceremony was attended by the acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Macedonci, the KSF Commander Bashkim Jashari, and the military attache at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Shaw.
“Today it was an honor for me that together with the Minister of Defense Ejup Macedonci, the KSF Commander Bashkim Jashari, and the military attache at the Embassy of the U.S. in Kosovo, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Shaw, we attended the delivery of the armored vehicles procured in the U.S. for the KSF,” Kurti announced on Facebook.
He emphasized that this is proof of the “strong partnership with the U.S. and an important step in strengthening Kosovo’s defense capabilities.”
“Our army will continue to develop shoulder to shoulder with our strategic partner, both in terms of training and in terms of education and doctrine, which is based on the U.S. Army,” Kurti added.
The U.S. Embassy in Pristina stated that the U.S., within the program of surplus defense equipment, transferred 50 armored security vehicles to the Government of Kosovo.
“Using its own defense resources, Kosovo will equip these vehicles for full operational capability, which represents another step in our joint commitment to strengthen the capacities of the KSF and reinforce the security of both our countries,” it was stated in the announcement of the U.S. Embassy.
