The Kosovo government headed by Albin Kurti decided to unilaterally abolish the visa regime for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti shared part of his address on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Berlin Process on his Facebook profile.

Under point six, he stated that the Republic of Kosovo is unilaterally canceling the visa regime for Bosnia and Herzegovina as of January 1.

It is further stated that from January 1, 2025, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to travel to Kosovo with personal documents.

On the other hand, citizens of Kosovo will still have to respect the visa policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards Kosovo.

The existing visa regime of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conditioned by the veto of the ruling politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s entity Republika Srpska.

The political leadership of this entity refuses to ratify the agreement on mobility for free movement with an identity card.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only country in the region that does not have a visa-free regime with Kosovo.

Citizens of North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Serbia travel only with identity cards.
