Kovacevic: SNSD will soon declare Victory

Spokesperson for the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Radovan Kovačević said tonight that the party expects to declare the victory of Siniša Karan for the presidency of Republika Srpska in the next hour or hour and a half.

“By 7:15 p.m., more than 100 polling stations had been processed, which is about 5 percent, and Siniša Karan, the SNSD candidate, is leading. I expect that SNSD President Milorad Dodik will declare victory in an hour or an hour and a half,” Kovačević said at a press conference at the SNSD Election Headquarters.

He assessed that it is important that “the citizens of 2022 gave their vote, their mandate to SNSD President Milorad Dodik.”

“By the will of Christian Schmidt, a political Sarajevo, and not the citizens of RS, that mandate was taken away, and that is why we voted today to save that will of the people,” Kovačević said.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called for early elections for the President of the RS for 23 November this year after Milorad Dodik was stripped of his mandate following the finality of the ruling of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opposing candidate to Sinisa Karan is Branko Blanuša, from the Serbian Democratic Party, who was supported by the opposition in the RS.
