One of the most popular ballets in the world “Krcko Orascic” performed last night, after 44 years, on the scene of the National Theater Sarajevo. The oldest symbol of culture in Sarajevo was crowded, and the audience rewarded this fairytale ballet, that is traditionally performed around the world in the Christmas and New Year period with a long applause.
“Krcko Orascic” is a story about the girl Klara, who finds an unusual gift under the tree, a wooden casket for nuts – the Orasar puppy. Klara and Orasar are experiencing miraculous moments in the imaginary world. The role of Krcko was given to Igor Pastor, the ballet champion from Belgrade, while Tamara Ljubicic, a member of the Ballet group in Sarajevo National Theater Ballet ensemble, won the main woman role.
The magic of this show was shown by more than a hundred artists, including a large number of children from all three Sarajevo’s ballet schools.
Choreography and setting is signed by former ballet champion Konstatnin Kostjukov, who currently holds the position of the director of the National Theater Belgrade. Amna Kunovac -Zekic was responsible for costumes, and for scene Josip Lovrenovic.
This ballet was performed first time on December 19th 1892, in the setting of Marius Petipe. Since then, the popularity of the “Krcko Orascic” ballet has grown steadily and today this show represents the basis of the repertoire of all European and world theater houses. Ballet of the National Theater Sarajevo was last performed in 1973 with the choreography by Slavko Pervan.
The first repetition is scheduled for December 1st , and the second for December 26th.
